Scary Story
I would like to share a scary story with you all
We had traveled to the outskirts of our small town, where the grass turned to dirt and the sidewalks turned to rocks. There were fierce animals like coyotes and wolves in this part of town. Whenever you took a step, the raucous noise of an animal would scream in your ears, making you paralyzed with ringing ears.
My friends call me a coward almost every day. I try to ignore them or laugh it off since I agree with them 100%. I am a coward. That is why when they begged me to come to outskirts, I trembled.
“The outskirts? Oh, no you guys. The outskirts are on the other side of town, and besides, mom is going to want me for dinner soon.”
“Come on John, don’t be a baby. It is time for you to face your fears!” said Will.
“Yeah, John!” cried Luke. “Just come with us and we won’t call you a coward again!”
Unfortunately for me, I gave in. I suppose I was too desperate for them to stop calling me a coward that I couldn’t refuse their offer.
Will and Luke laughed together as we traveled the path to the outskirts. The lights were slowly dimming and our visibility became worse. I tried to convince myself that everything was going to be okay, but my brain knew that something was going to go wrong. Finally Will and Luke stopped laughing and instead yelled in bewilderment.
“Oh, take a look at that John!” Will shouted. He seemed scared, hesitant.
I did take a look at it, and I now wish I hadn’t. My mouth opened to scream, but nothing came out. Suddenly, I heard Will and Luke yelling and calling for help. I tried to run but my legs were jell-o and I only fell. Suddenly, a cloud of blackness enveloped me and everything was gone.

I woke up in what I thought was my bedroom. I groaned and rolled over on my right side. Suddenly, a 13-year-old boy-sized finger was poking me. I opened my eyes and almost shouted with surprise. Metal bars surrounded me and I could hardly move without hitting my body on the side of the cage.
I turned to look at the direction of the finger and found Luke, whose eyes were swollen from either tears or injury.
“Where’s Will?” I whispered.
Luke put his fingers to his lips to show I should talk softer. “I don’t know, John. I tried to stay awake, but the blackness would not stop. I yelled from pain and fear, and the struggle to stay awake. Finally, I couldn’t do it, and I passed out. I have as much of an idea where we are as you do.”
I held up one finger to Luke and pushed on the side of the cage. It crashed to the ground with a bang! Luke put his head in his hands and slunk deep in his cage.
I continued to push against the bars of the cage, tipping the cage over when I had enough force to push it. Luke had his eyes squinted and his ears covered.
I had only reached the kitchen when I heard a scream coming from Will. Luke wailed from his cage and I started to panic. My instincts pushed me to go to the sound of Will’s screams. I pushed my cage as fast as I could to Will. My cage was suddenly kicked by a pointed boot. It toppled sideways and landed in blackness.
“Will?” I asked. “Will! Will, where you are you, man?”
“John…?” Will seemed hesitant.
I tried to push my hands across the ground, but could not feel the bottom of the floor. I tried sticking my fingers out of the cage, but I felt teeth nipping me when I tried. My arms and legs trembled with fear as I curled up in the corner of my cage. Chills ran down my spine. I fell asleep after a few hours and woke up with clean, pure nightmares, fresh in my mind.
I shook my head and tried to clear the nightmares out of my head. When I opened my eyes, I saw a little bit of light, but I could feel the night still intertwining me. I tried to move and found that the cage and I were in a bag. I punched the bag and even tried to bite it open, but the bag was strong and could withhold a 13-year-old boy kicking.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming towards me. They weren’t very heavy footsteps, but those of a child. Sure enough, a little girl cut the string that kept the bag closed and set me free. My lungs praised the fresh air. We were in a jungle with the smell of trees and pine.
“Hey, girlie,” I started. “Do you know where my other friends are?”
She pointed and we walked over to the bags. We freed Luke and Will and they were just as happy as I was to be out of the bag.
The young girl seemed smart for her age. She looked around four or five but had immense knowledge about the wilderness. She told me she loved to learn and was very adventurous. I guess our bags were placed on top of her discovery center, but she didn’t mind.
“Do you know why we were in a forest?” I asked
“Yup. My mommy is a witch. She captures little boys and girls who dare have the courage to trespass in the outskirts. I try to tell her it’s cruel, but she won’t listen.”
We looked at the girl quizzically as she led us through the sticks and leaves. It seemed like hours until she led us to her house.
I would not call it just a regular house; I would call it a haunted house. The moon shone directly above it. There were no solid windows, just broken glass or none at all. Huge spider webs hung from uneven edges of the house.
The little girl laughed. Suddenly, the laugh turned into a cackle. Will screamed for help, and I looked at the witch that used to be the little girl.
“Hey little boys,” she cackled
She grabbed Will and Luke by their shirts and pulled them into the house. We screamed for each other. They finally told me to run, so I ran. I ran as fast as I could, back to my house. I opened the door, slammed it shut, sprinted up to my room, and locked the door.
I breathed heavily. My face was pale. Suddenly, I heard a screaming sort of laugh. I was paralyzed. When I regained my strength, I turned around and saw the face of the witch.
Then everything was gone.
its kinda short but its for a contest please give c+c! ty!
